Though many fans used to think that this would make the race less eventful, it was not the case. It is still one of the most beloved circuits in the world and one of the prides of Barcelona. At first, Motorland Aragon was meant as an official reserve circuit for MotoGP. It became an irreplaceable circuit after it hosted its first race. This race was actually meant to be hosted on the Balatonring in 2010, but as that circuit was unable to host a race due to overdue construction work, Motorland Aragon made its debut in MotoGP. After that, the venue became a constant factor on the MotoGP calendar. The circuit currently holds a contract running until the end of 2016 for hosting the event.
